7 tooth grill is one center and 3 out to each side spaced evenly so the space between the outer tooth and headlight is the same as the space between teeth.
Ya know what would be an interesting addition to this post? If we not only posted the "Before" and "After" pictures, but DATED the pictures so folks can see how much time it has taken the metamorphesis, ALSO THOUGH, post the $$$$$ Figure it has taken to get from "Before" to "After" That would be interesting.
I'm almost afraid to add up the reciepts. My file for them is about 5 inches thick! And out of that Engine, Transmission, Headers, and License plates (my four most expensive single items) and Purchase are only 5 pieces of paper!!!!!!! I know for a fact that my account with Marshalls is over $600 - that's just stainless steel hardware, hoses and brazing rods
Julie,
THAT"S A GREAT IDEA.... I know we all are in denial... but even if we gave rough numbers, it sure would be valuable information. Only occasionally do I read about $$ figures in the truck magazines. Sure it looks like a million bucks, but some guys also spent a million bucks getting it that way. And we've had the debate about doing it yourself vs paying someone to build you a truck. Even if you've farmed some of the work out, seeing a dollar amount spent from before and after would be great.
i'll be the first to start the number game, even tho i hate to say numbers... but its hittin close to $10,000. And there is still alot of money to be spent!! my next major purchase is going to be wheels, 18/20's. you gotta remember... alot of little stuff adds up quick!!!
OUCH... Ok, I take it back, maybe this isn't such a good idea. I haven't even started putting it back together yet and I ran my numbers......
Are you sitting down? (I'm glad I was.)
$9,725.90
This is EVERYTHING, including the cost of Fred, the parts truck. Titles, plates, and the triple deuces and manifold I just bought. But haven't even asked the engine guy for a price yet.... and I need, EVERYTHING else.... wiring, paint (it's in primer) wheels, tires, sound proofing.... nuts, bolts, etc. etc. to put the stupid thing back together.
NO, Julie, this wasn't a good idea... I was better off stupid.

my first number is a 3. I got a GREAT deal on the paint & body work, under $15/hr. but we added a ton of work. At the current going price I could never have afforded it, but its probably a $60-80k paint job at the going rate in Austin of $65-75/hr. ($3k worth of materials), and Dave didn't charge me travel time. (and thats after I did the inner & out cab corners, shaved the door handles, and replaced the front floor & toe board, and repaired the roof).
engine/tranny/rebuild, bed & tires & wheels, sandblast and hood replacement/restrip alone are $10300, carb, steering wheel, hood kit, glass kit is another $1500.
52f3 would you consider moving to Colorado. my god you are just a great fabricator! that is a beautiful machine you are building not to mention that it is a beast of a truck. very nice.
I bought my 58 for 1500, have added about 6 grand of new parts and update and still have about another 1500 worth of parts and paint to buy yet. No they are not a cheap hobby but it has been fun.
I have a few before, progess and nearing completion pics on my gallery.
