im thinkin of getting into it and was wondering how to go about it. ive seen a few markers in the sunday ads but was wondering if they are any good. should i buy some cammo clothes? ect...ect.
Used to play paintball in high school, and we did it a lot while I was in the Marines. It's a heck of a lot of fun, and it can get addictive! First you get a cheap gun, then some old cammies (military surplus stores) and you find a patch of woods. Then you run into the problem of the gun doesn't shoot hard enough, far enough, I need better camo, I need better goggles, etc. I musta plunked down 3000 bucks over the course of a couple years playin paintball, but I did tournaments and the like. If you wanna get into it, get yourself a gun and some goggles. It's a heck of a lot of fun, and the sting goes away eventually.

Yup, love it. Tippman makes a great gun, and can be had at a comparativly low price. Their "Model 98" used to be their introductory model and as you get more experienced can be upgraded all the way to an full auto if you wish. Camos are a must if you play outdoors (my favorite). If you play outdoors at lower temperatures get an expansion chamber for your gun. Feel free to send me a private e-mail if you want more info...I've been a paintball nut for years.
the markers im lookin at in the ads are as follows:
Sonix Super Kit:
semi-auto sonix marker with bottom line and gas through foregrip
java x-type goggles
200-round loader with elbow

2 speed tubes
price is 169.00 for all
Raptor kit:
re-manufactured blue raptor semi-auto marker
JT goggle system
200 round hopper
price is 69.00 for all
i saw the Tippmann custom 98 but its 160.00 and im not sure how deep i wanna go with this thing yet. im kinda leaning tword the first kit but i dont know what half of that stuff mentioned in the kit is.
back when i played the automag was a quick good priced reliable gun. the autococker was a big hit too. i had a raptor and it broke almost everytime i played. try to get a gun without many moving parts so you can drop it and hit it on trees without having to replace everything. paintballs will burn a hole in your pocket. if you plan on playing alot i suggest you find a internet whole sale company or similar and buy them in bulk at a time. you will save hundreds of dollars that way. any hunting camo will be fine. find yourself a cheap mask. dont waste all your money on being invisible because 3/4 of the time you are a moving target and can be seen easily. not many times do you sit down and blend in. its scary the first time but you get used to it. really gets your blood going. i think its as close to getting to real military combat as you can get. i could not imagine playing with fully automatic assault rifles. it just makes me think how much courage it takes to be a real soldier. you will have fun, very very intense.
