460 points eliminator

460 points eliminator

i picked up an accel point eliminator kit for my 460 ,the truck would fire up before, so i take out #1 plug and bring up to tdc and note were the rotor is and its on #1 , so take the points out and put the kit in as per directions, hook up the wires and ground and thru a quick charge on the batt. turn the charger to start and she turned over and fired up , so after a few min i un hook the charger cables and the motor stopped running and wont fire back up? rechecked the tdc and rotor placement and it looks right, she turns over but wont fire? ...one thing after another,,, now i know why i took a long break

Your first mistake was buying an Accel point eliminator kit, the Pretronix are a much better setup. But as to your problem, the charger thing makes it sound like a charging problem not an ignition problem, maybe you bumped somthing when you put in the ignition. Does it charge and will it start back up with a jump? Do you have spark?

you are 100% right with the accel, wring rotor was in the kit! spark would have to travel a country mile , went with pretronix 1/2 hour later fired right up w/o the charger, now for the next problem

Duraspark conversion is even cheaper!

I can't imagine that's true, and you need a new dizzy which means starting over with timing curve tuning.
