Some things to check: tire pressure, intercooler piping boots (at the intercooler AND at the intake spider on top of the engine AND at the intake manifold under the spider), when was the last time the fuel filter was changed, are there any damp spots on the ground under the truck or on the underside of the truck on the driver's side (where the fuel lines run from the tank to the pump and engine).

i get 12.5 mpg on the highway. I have 35" tires though and I know my speedo is off, so I assume my odometer is off. It's weird though, when i had 37"s i got 1mpg better. However I am concerned about my fuel mileage so i'l keep an eye on this thread.

At only 8 mpg, I'd also look at the EGR tube to see if it is plugged. I've not done it, but they can be cleaned and unplugged. use the search tool for this forum.

90K, that's great! It's almost broken in...
As for the leaking boots: it will cause a little loss of power (I guess around 4# lost) but I don't think that will drop your mileage below 10. You can add these to your wish list:

Since you have a 7.3 and not a 6.0 I would check/clean your exhaust backpressure valve (EBV). Here's how to do it:
