I have a c5ae-60153 289 with heads on it with 7c1,or I 3 stamped on them. Can anyone tell me what they are,or if there is a code I'm not seeing to id them?
You gave us the casting number from the cylinder block, but the number is a little off. Check it again, it should be C5AE 6015 (?). Try to determine what the (?) is. It should be a letter.
The heads have their numbers underneath, so need to be removed to be read. Or if the intake manifold is off, a mirror can be used to read the casting numbers under the heads sometimes.
I know you're trying to ID, but is there a reason other than curiosity? If you pull a valve cover and find pressed in studs, and there is no lump in the exhaust--or even if there is--garden variety. Not bad, usable, but nothing special. You can change them to screw-in studs and proper valve seals and have fine heads for many applications. Or run them like they are, just hold it to 5500 rpm or so....
Trying to find out if they are hipo heads. The block casting # matches the criteria, but I'm not able to pull the pan off yet.Where exactly is the casting number under the head?
If they are hipo heads (not at all likely) they will have screw in studs. That said, screw in studs will not confirm that they're hipo, but the lack of screw in studs (likely) will prove that they're not.
