Will the thieves at a dealership be able to fix this problem? It is very annoying when I first start the truck and every so often while driving to hear *beeeeeep beeeeeep beeeeeep* over and over. Only reason I know the computer not recognizing the engine is the cause is because my uncle and his moron friend (the one who put combo fluid in a mercron v fluid tranny) swapped the good engine for another l6 that had burned up without finishing the job.

sorry...was a bit all over the place...just so many probs with this truck and its annoying, but no money to get a new one, which i most likely have to do now
anyway, my uncle got this truck from an electric contractor with a burned up engine in it, 4.9 l6 mfi, he replaced it with a new one, only difference is efi...only thing he did was replace the engine, put it all back together and got it running...did not test anything or touch the computer...this being the problem was recommended to me by a family friend who has been working on it here and there

Reason: off topic
"Computer" in these truck's doesn't know if it's drilled, punched or bored and wouldn't know one motor from the next, something like that is way beyond anything it could do.
All it knows is sensors and tables and to compare the two making adjustments based on the input it gets.
These trucks, a "94" would have been EFI with MPI. There would be not reason to do anything to/with the computer swapping the motor.
You need to back up some and let us know what kinda problems you're having with it.
The KOEO test would let you know if any senors are unplugged or just not working. The truck must pass the KOEO self test ("Key On, Engine Off" test, passing is code "111") before going any further or driving it, if a sensor doesn't work then, KOEO self test shows a failed sensor producing a code, it won't work when it's running, or when driving it. You must find the problem/s and correct them until you can run the KOEO test and get the passing code "111". Then you can try taking it for a ride, doing so before correcting any and all KOEO codes is a waste of time.
Post your codes, if any, for a little guidance if needed.
It's possible you went from a sequential/mass air systerm to the SD system(or vise versa), and if the wiring harness doesn't match the computer then it will run like ***... which could be your problem. The motors themselves are the same it's the wiring and computer that are different.

True, but would stand to reason the person doing the swap would have just stayed with whatever system the truck had to start with, if the plain was to get it back to work fast.....
That assumes a lot yea, that and and if the person had some idea of what they where doing or not.
Could also explain this statement,
<i>swapped the good engine for another l6 that had burned up <b>without finishing the job</b></i>
In my opinion, he rushed through the swap too quickly for his skill level...he has always done things half-assed unless for his own personal gain, and even then...
I got the truck after he "traded it in" with my grandma for her 96 extended cab with bad tranny to replace an old 89 dodge 15 passenger bus that i could no longer afford to drive...now im stuck driving it again

Yes.. but there was mention of something burning up and this "he took mfi out and put efi in" so who knows what was actually changed on the truck in question.
We're 15 posts into this thread and the OP still hasn't described his problem. It seems the truck drives so I seriously doubt a major mismatch between computer and engine, but we won't really know until more info is supplied.
