Nice try, but no cigar yet. Any good Aerostar should easily be able travel the equivalent distance to the moon. (The moon is approximately 238,855 miles from Earth. ) You're nearly there, keep on truckin'......
Around here, the Aerostar is THE prize. Enjoyed the picture, thanks for posting.
what's the life story on your Aero? any major surgeries?
still in love with mine 13 years later after bringing her home from the Ford dealer's back lot where they hid them, trying to push the Windsuckers.
she's so dependable, i drive her instead of the new Dodge/Cummins unless i'm towing.
just wish this winter gas garbage would go away, even affecting the wife's HMC rigs. they're really gutless on it when cold.
1992 blue RWD XL 3.0l, transmission was replaced with the 4.0 spec a4ld around 3 months into its life. i rear ended a toyota due to bad brakes, only trashed the plastic bumper and grill. the toyota was thoroughly destroyed tho hahahaha
i drive 20km every day to work and back... now if only it could heat up faster

rtypeman,
i ran a piece of plastic sheeting in front of the radiator on mine for faster winter warmups when i used it for commuting years ago.
really works well on the Aero, cuts the warm up time in half and no overheating problems in winter time. blocked about 3/4 of radiator core.

It is so funny to see clouds of steam from under a hood when it is -10-15 dgr C outdoors!!!! I used to cover radiator and engine compartment with thermo-insolating film used for building warming... fogoten to remove next morning cause funny winter overheating!
My 1990 Aero just turned 130000 miles a couple days ago. I guess it's just broken in? Starts/runs good, and the last smog check showed very little emissions. I just hope the transmission lasts.
When I lived in Detroit, one nasty winter day had really strong winds that brought the windchill to -15F. My car happened to be pointed into the wind, and the wind froze the radiator overnight. I didn't know this until I was a couple miles from home, when the overheat light came on. Before I could find a place to pull over, I heard a loud BOOM, and steam gushed out from every edge of the hood, as well as inside the car. I had to pull over to the side of the road, and found the upper radiator hose had blown up. It was quite the sight to see.
