I have the trans from my 54 panel. It is an auto that was hooked up to the 239 ohv engine as it came from the factory,{fordomatic].Is anyone using these trans.I hate to throw it out if anyone needs it or parts from it.But at this point it is just taking up space. Also what would it be worth.I did have it running on jack stands and the trans seemed to work.

Hi Dr. Smith,
I didn't realize that they actually put an automatic in a truck in '54 but I would have to guess that is a Borg Warner 3 sp. automatic. Is it cast iron and does it have a seperate aluminum beell housing? To be worth anything I think you would have to sell the tranny, bell housing, tourque converter, and ring gear flex plate. I don't know if you can still get rebuild parts, but I would try putting it on the swap forum as a complete set of parts. I'd try asking at least $100.00 for it all with the buyer arranging shipping.

you might try selling it on the Y-blocks forever site or here for that matter. It probably needs to be rebuilt.
I am more interested in your steering column though.....are you going to use it?
I'm putting an automatic in my 55 F-600 (pics in the gallery) I'd like to use an original steering column in it....
