EVAP Test Not Complete
I found a TSB that talked about the procedure for doing that test and tried to follow it. The TSB states that I need the IAT to be at least 50 degrees and then drive at about 45 MPH. I get the truck up to temp (195) and then watch the following PIDs: EVAPPDC, EVAPCV, IAT, FTP V, VSS
The TSB says to watch the EVAPPDC to go above 75% and then back to 0% 2 or 3 times. After that has happened the EVAPCV is supposed to go from 0% to 100% and then the FTP V should be between 1.2 and 1.6 V.
I see the EVAPPDC go above 75% several times, but the EVAPCV never goes to 100%. I need to know what to do next???
<table width="80%" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="20"><tbody><tr><td valign="top" width="15%" align="center"><small>EVAP</small></td> <td valign="top" width="60%"><small> Cruise at 72 to 104 Km/h (45 to 65 MPH) for 10 minutes (avoid sharp turns and hills) Note, to initiate the monitor: TP MODE should =PT, EVAPDC must be >75%, and FLI must be between 15 and 85%</small></td> <td valign="top" width="25%"><small>Executes the EVAP Monitor (If IAT is within 4.4 to 37.8° (40 to 100°F))</small></td></tr></tbody></table>
I have more information. A friend has the Ford IDS software. I pulled it up and it has a static EVAP system test. I ran the test and it says it found a small leak.
I have 3 questions:
1. Why are there no trouble codes (DTC) for a small leak?
2. What are the most likely and hopefully cheapest things that would cause a small leak?
3. This is the only test not complete. Can I get a waver on just one test not complete?
As for the waver, that just depends on the rules of your local emissions testing. In my area I think you can get away with one not ready.
