What does this do?

I just purchased a used f250 diesel truck, Im not sure what this unit controls ... any ideas?

That's my guess too. Does the red LED on the controller light up when you step on the brake pedal?

Welcome to FTE.

Yes that is a brake controller. If you do away with it, save the wiring under the dash. That came with the truck, in the glove box. It is one of the older ones.
