The TSL radial is a great all around tire. Especially if you do some high way driving since it's a radial it will do alot better in tread life compared to a bias ply. And if replacing tires every year isn't your thing then go with the tsl. I can say my tires self clean alot better than toyos and can get me though pretty much anything I want to go though.

if you spend any time on the road at all you will want to rule out the boggers and iroks. I just replaced a set of SSR's and they are my favorite tire for any kind of highway tire. yes they are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. i got about 56K out of them and they were just shy of hitting the wear bars. pony up the cash and get the right tire for the job.

x2 on the SSRs. Before them, I had BFG mts, and they make the BFGs look like all terrains offroad. On road, the SSRs were about the same as the BFGs, so there wasn't much tradeoff. They are pricy, but they are a great all around tire that won't make you sorry on the road.

i tried that route and they were on backorder. i placed my order on Aug 25 and 2 weeks ago i had to cancel b/c i needed new tires!

seriously, i know the SSR's are pricey but they are well worth it. better than BFG's in my opinion bc they tread is spaced out more on the SSR's than the BFG's. the SSR's have the same basic tread design as the TSL radials so they should perform comparably, just with some extra road manners. i think in the long run you will be impressed!

BTW... you also have to remember my 56K miles were mostly on the street under a heavy diesel truck, and many times with a trailer in tow. only reason i went with a different brand and tread design is for just that reason, my truck will NEVER see offroad b/c she is my pullin truck. i dont need a loud rough mud tire just for the looks. although i am betting these A/T's dont last as long as the SSR's!

I got TSL radials and no complaints from me. I like them, and I have taken my truck on a 4 hour trip all high way with no problems.

I bought SSRs in 33x12.50x16.50 and I was happy with them, noisy on the highway compared with other tires, but, fairly good in the clay mud. Next to a ground hawg or bogger, I think they are a top traction tire.

I have LTB's and love them, they have limited sizes to chose from as you may have noticed, they are cheap though. They are just as loud as boggers and behave like a bias tire is expected to, but bang for the buck, they are a winner for me.

I have to say the Super Swamper TSL Radials have been treating me good. Havn't had them that long but they seem to be a good tire on the road and off.

I have 38.5x11R15 Boggers on my Ranger. Best dahm tire ever in mud, rocks, etc. The miller mega traction locker is chewin on them pretty good thou. Rough as hell in the winter. Put dyna bead balance powder in them 2 months ago, much better ride. I would not recommend Boggers if you drive on the street more than one time per week. They also pose a problem on wet asphalt. Boggers+wet road+car pulling out in front of you=no stopping. I am going to go with 38x12.50 TSL bias when these wear out. My other trucks have Wild Country Radial RVTs, got 20K and a couple of smoky burnouts on one set and they hold up well clean out well and have a better street ride than BFG ats. They only make them up to 35's thou. BTW Boggers will not let you down anywhere offroad, just dont know how they are street legal, seems the DOT did not test them in the rain.

That said, there was alot of tire neglect that went on with that set of A/T's.
because this truck is strictly a tow/haul truck, she will NEVER see the mud as i have experienced the problems that comes from wheelin a daily driver. thats the broncos purpose! the only time she comes off the pavement is when i am hauling the bronco to the the play area.

why avoid an IROK?

im surprised that many are praising the SSR. my dad ran a set...terrible off road traction, and crappy mileage. i'll never use them again.

they wore out FAST, much faster than my SX's. the SX's did alot better in the ice/snow/mud also. i expected the SSR to do good in the snow/ice....

I'd really like to know what you are comparing your terrible SSR's to...if it's another Interco tire...then yeah I might agree...but wouldn't call them terrible...just not up to snuff, which is expected because it's not as extreme of a tire asthe rest of their line-up. If you're comparing them to to a A/T or something...I'll say you're whacked.

Maybe you got a bad set of SSR's...In the last 6 years, all I've used are Interco tires, and I've gotten 2 bad sets...a set of TSL Radials and a set of TSL Bias ply. Sometimes bad tires do squeak by quality inspection. I'm really surprised you said you got worse mileage out of a set of radials vs. a set of bias ply...which leads me to believe you truly did just get a bad set of tires.
its possible. all i know, it was enough to keep me from buying them again.

not really comparing them to any other tire. just know that the truck they were on couldnt get out of its own way offroad.
trucks that had lesser tires, and were lesser equipped did much better than the truck on NEW SSR's.
and they wore out pretty quick. i wanna say in like the 10k range.
