I've been able to find most of my questions from the many great threads but not this one...
I replaced my o-rings on my injectors tonight but the when I went to put the hard line back to injector 5 i was unable to get things lined up and stripped the nut.
What other options do I have then buying a $50 hard line. Can I buy some line and bend it myself or is the pressure too much for a home made flare?
Would flex line with racing "AN" connections work?
I would try the wreckers first and see if ya could find a used one... I dont think a flex line would work cause it might not transfer all the pressure to the injector. If you could get a new nut, steel line, and proper flairing tool you should be good to go... keep in mind the lenghts of the lines is important... thats why they snake around all over the place. I would say that buying one would be your best bet...
the lenght and the inside diameter are crucial... if they were diferent the timing and amoun of fuel would be diferent on that cycl... I'm no expert it's just somthing I've been reading about...
The injection lines are all exactly the same diameter and length.
This is critical for timing and fuel delivery.
Pressure is also an issue, they are in the 2000+ PSI range for working pressure.
Are you sure you stripped the nut and not the top of the injector. I did the same thing on my 84 Ford when I was about 15 years old. Typical 15 year old shade tree mechanic, got it one turn with my hand and forced it the rest of the way with a wrench, had to buy two injectors. You might want to check that first. If not, definetely try to find a junkyard.
Gee with prices like that Ebay sounds promising...... use to get a whole set used for $50 or less. Might have to start parting out an old engine I picked up complete for $300CDN
Yeah I have a lot of spare parts, but I know as soon as I sell it, I will have to buy one and probably spend twice as much as I sold the other one for.

Exactly. Thats why I don't sell any parts like this.
I haven't ever seen any tubing like this for sale anywhere. It has a small inside diameter. 1/16 in" is pretty close.
If you have to get a line save the nut on the other end. Weld it to a 1/2 fine nut. Get a wrist pin out of a an N-14 Cummins. Get you a 1/2 in fine bolt about 6 inches long and you have a nice slide hammer for future use on removing stuck nozzles.
One thing to remember. It is a handy tool to have around but they can be hand mashers when you really get to jerking it. Don't cuss me, write it off as experience.
