Wish you were close to Indiana, I have a rebuilt 223 that came with my truck just sitting in the barn. I have tried to sell it a couple of times for $200 I no offers.

I have a 1960 F100 that was equipped with a 223. I am looking at a 1954 223 and was wondering if it would be a direct replacement for the '60
Most likely the '54 will have the front motor mount attached to the timing cover. The '60 likely bolted to the side of the engine. Poke around my site and you'll find a couple pages with a '60 223 and a '53 215 which was the predecessor to the 223.
Clutch type will not matter, you can use the same bell housing which will bolt right up! Motor mounts will have to be thought thru as previously mentioned! There might be a difference with fuel pumps as the vac pump is part of the fuel pump on the 60! This is a very straight forward swap!

Hi Max---I am building a 56F100 and have 2 yblocks I can install. I am considering the 223--since I like the one in my 53 so much. I am in Cleveland,Ohio area and if you could tell me more about this engine,I would be considering it. Thanks Bill

1957/60 223 front motor mount support brackets: B7TZ-6028-A right & B7TZ-6029-A left, bolt to the engine block.
Two donut shaped rubber mounts (B7C-6039-B) fit between the support brackets and another small bracket (C0TT-5057-A right & COTT-5058-A left) that bolt to the crossmember.
Below the crossmember are two more rubber mounts (B7C-6038-B).
From below the crossmember, two shouldered bolts go thru both donut mounts, the small brackets and thru the support brackets. Nuts & washers attach everything together.
I am convinced that the reason that Ford needs 9 Billion dollars from the Federal Govt --is that Mr Number Dummy/Bill retired!!! He is an amazing source of information!!!
Walford 56 . I can't tell you more than the guy I bought it from got it from his neighbor who had aready over hauled the 223. He bought it from him (unistalled) and was going to put it together when his daughter had to move back home with child. That is why he sold it to me.. When I got it I didn't want that engine in it anyway but it came with the truck. The head is loose on the engine and you can see it has been redone. It is in the barn with the trans and stuff I don't want. It sure is a shame to see it go to the pile. You can't begin to redo one for this price. It would be worth a road trip and you can have the trans and other stuff to. I think the starter and such is there also.

I'm located 1/2 between Knox, and Winamac Ind. My zip is 46960.
Bigger I am between Kokomo and South Bend, then West 30 miles. Should be able to find it on map quest or one of those. If not let me know and we'll talk. It is a shame someone doesn't pick this up and use it.
