I've had my new F250 about 45 days now and have almost 2000 miles on it. So far, the light indicating the water needs to be drained from the fuel filter has not come on. Should I go ahead and do this given the time/mileage? I have crawled under the truck and found the valve with no problem. It looks easy to do, other than avoiding getting diesel all over you. It's much easier to drain the contaminants on my John Deere tractor!
Manual says should do once a month. I do it about that often. I agree much easier on tractor but then again fuel tank on our 4020 was above the engine.
Personally, I never touched mine and I have 29,000mi. on my truck. If the light doesn't come on, there's no water anyway. Had the scheduled fuel filter change @ 20,000mi. No problems.
