No, I didn't get the roof done as it would have meant the shop had to get scaffolding setup to do it. The roof doesn't get exposed to too much abuse anyway.
I will say....with mud...get it off ASAP, that stuff has a tendency to stain the darker color bedliners, I have it inside my rockcrawler and wish I hadn't done it...they make some sealers, which may be worth it in your case, but most of the liners will show where the mud has hit it...
So when are we going to see the Iron bull bumpers and lift on this project??? I believe this one will be one for the books!!! So much potential...
CanadianSmokie you might want to throw in some hotrod canary red in there some where. Just a thought...
Bumpers on but the weather up here has not been condusive to getting a good pic... the truck's either covered in snow, ice or salt... will try and post an updated pic soon... the 17,000 lb winch w/ dyneema line should be coming the end of January with the lift and tires towards the spring.
I don't think my truck will ever have the potential that Scott's has.... mine is all about functionality. All go and no show... the fact that it is turning out looking good is purely accidental.
AHHH dont sell your self short. Sometimes accidental turns out to be purely original and one of a kind...
Its going to come down to the rims... the rims are going to make Ratt X pop. Once you figure out what wheels are going to look like Ratt X will come to life!!! Wheels are the jewelry of the vehicle, its the first thing people look at. Think original. Original paint job original rims. For example... ol sckool black rim with a red outline or backdrop...red break calibers. You might have to take a used rim and powdercoat it to make it work for ya. Bone yards are great for Ratt rods!! Maybe some pin stripe Von Dutch style on the hood or somewhere in the interior??? Possiblilities are endless with this project. Use your fabrication skills I see you have some with those steps you made...very original. I have seen an anvil with wings on it as a hood ornament on an old rat rod. Pretty cool!!!! Rat rods are not about expensive chrome pieces, extensive paint jobs or parts you can buy at the local X store. There all about self expression, imagination, an a builders fab skills. I hope this get that torch ah flamming!!! Good luck... Build that TRUE RATT X
U say you didnt do the hood. Maybe thats a good thing..... What about a RAG TOP X!!!! That would be F'en SICK to have a RAG TOP X!!!! On sunny days you could ride with the whole top of the X completly open. Now that would be original and very very cool. Unlike me you have that option of doing anything to your X. Wish I could do that...
I'm not going to take a can opener to the roof of the X, but I agree with your suggestion of unique rims. Was thinking about getting the factory ones sprayed with the bedliner... might see if i can find a different style to do that to...
Maybe a trapdoor above the rear seats with a 50 cal. mounted on top?
LOL... Trapdoor...50 cal. U so crazy!!! LMAO
Trapdoor gunrack I LOVE IT!!!
On the RAg TOp T.O. picture this!!
8 Hooters girls all poping out of the top of yor X!!! Now that would a pic to post... HA HA!!!
Even Scottf would be jealous of that
