Storing some wheels

I have two sets of rims and tires for my truck. In the winter, i use a crappy set of chrome steel rims on 235/75/15s and in the summer i use my eddie bauer rims on 32/11.5/15 BFG muds. What would be the best way to store those rims so that they will not rust, or atleast rust minimally. If i put a coating of wheel bearing grease on them, would it work? Any tips?

Primary rig is:
95' F-150 EB 300/6 5 spd with 4" Superlift, MSD, Ram Air, Gibson Exhaust, 32" BFG Muds

Then theres:
88' F-250 Superduty 351 + c6
92' Thunderbird 3.8L V-6 FOR SALE!
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 and a
3 spd column shifter baby.

The newest addition to the Ford family is a 99' Mustang GT 4.6L

Could try just spraying them down with wd-40, easier to clean off when you want to use them. If your storing them inside and you are stacking them, put a sheet of cardboard between each tire/wheel.
I read that somewhere, not sure the purpose, something to do with the rubber to rubber contact.

Just an idea.

Storing some wheels

I had soem cheap modulars that would rust so easy, what I did was put a coat of Simoniz wax on it fairly thick and not buff it off. I did that oen year and it lasted great, the next year I took them off and put them in my basement, they sure looked out of place but what can ya do right.

Storing some wheels

just spray a light coat of light wieght oil on both sides of the rims
if you are stacking the wheels put card board or plywood between them as for the tires coat them really good with some kind of rubber conditioner or tire dressing which ever everyone calls it now adays
coating them with wax is a good idea but old dryed wax can be a pain to get off after sitting for awhile

I have done the same before I got lazy and went the "all-season" cop-out route.

Just clean them up good before putting them away. light wax or chrome cleaner, but be sure to buff it off as it will be hard to get off 3-4 months later

protectants are ok for the tires but don't over do it, it will just make a mess of your hands and clothes when you stack' em. the main thing is to avoid hot or overly humid storage places, also keep them covered from direct sun.
