Hello,
I went to the shop to have my front brake pads replaced and was told that the rotors had to be replaced as well. Is this possible? I have a 1999 F-150 with only 37,000 miles. I was told that the new brake pads have metal in them and wear the rotors very much more quickly than pads from years ago.
Could this be correct?
Any help please,
Greg
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Mar-02 AT 08:36 AM (EST)]Unless the rotor is really grooved bad than you shouldn't need new ones. Or if the rotor is warped bad they may recommend a replacement. Was there a pulsating when you braked? (not the ABS kind of pulse though) At the worst they should be able to grind the surfaces flat for you. If none of the above is true, go somewhere else and boycott the place.

However, the rotors really rust onto the hubs in the 97 and up trucks. They may be saying they can't save the rotors because they'll be destroyed on removal. Good luck Max
