replace fuel filter

guess if I had a repair manual, I could answer this question. How easy is it to replace the fuel filter on my 97 F250 7.3L. Is it right there under the engine cap, ..... any fuel pressurization issues I need to be aware of ?

Just flip up the top that says Direct Injection, there is a fuel filter bowl with a screw on top. You may have to use a 1/2" drive ratchet or a pair of pliers to loosen it. Unscrew it and pull the filter upwards. Replace the large o-ring on the cap. I pour a little diesel fuel back in the filter bowl, just to make sure it is full when I fire it up, (probably not necessary). Insert new filter slowly (to soak up the fuel if you added some), and screw the cap back on, hand tight,(snug).

It's a good idea to clean the little screen in there too when you're replacing the filter.. Just take a q-tip remove the cotton and gently use the stick part of it and clean off the screen..
