HP And Torque?

Looking at TMeyer's web site at the engine projects what is the reason that the W stroker out performs the 400 stroker? The W stroker is 432 and the 400 is 434 . The W stroker has a torque of 536 and hp 590 and the 400 stroker has a torque of 534 and hp 488?

Looks like he built the Windsor to spin a hell of a lot faster. Look at the rpm range in the curves.

How long is a rope?

The only way that you could determine that one made more power than the other would be to build and prepare two engines as closely as possible and then dyno them. ANY component being different such as a different cam grind, intake choice, etc. will change them.

The key to answering your question would be to find some way to compare them apple to apple rather than apple to orange. In the comparison you site, one engine is built for horsepower and the other is aimed more toward building mid range torque.

So, it's really six of one and a half dozen of the other. You can build the torque/horsepower curve of your choice with either.

And both engines have to start at zero rpm. So which one makes peak first? And how far down the line are ya by that time?

You are not giving sufficient information needed to answer your question.

Torque peak RPM, horsepower peak RPM, tire size, transmission ratios and rear axle ratio are all necessary to answer this question.

Doc, if yer asking me, I was referring to both engine's other variables all being equal, in response to Mudrat's rpm range. In theory, the 400 should peak before the 351W....about half way down a quarter mile track. At which point you should be about half a second ahead of any Chev, lol.

the shorter deck would make a windsor rev faster, thats why people build them for higher rpm, you can see that in all 408w builds out there...

you can make a 408 335 engine rev faster with a set of heads, even get it to 7k BUT it wouldnt last a week, since there are no steal cranks and forged rods available for the 400... that not including strokers..

There is anything you want if you are willing to pay for it. I use an Eagle crank and Oliver rods. You can get a Bryant crank made any way you like it. But none of it is inexpensive.
