Warranties Void?
I just got a 2002 F250 PSD 4x4 and I wanted to add a 4" Procomp w/35 x 12.50s....with that I would do a Programmer, turbo back exhaust, WD Ram Air......my concern is warranty. Will all of this completely void my warranty? I bought an extended warranty with the truck out to 5/75000. I have mostly heard from Ford .....yes it will. Then all the aftermarket guys say that the Magnusson-Moss Act states that the dealer can't void the warranty without proving that the aftermarket part caused the damage.
What is confusing to me is that one Ford dealership near me says that all that will void the truck while another one across town has the same truck as a Regency conversion with a 6" lift and 35s....etc....and it's covered under warranty. Granted that the conversion is a $9000 upgrade(same system is about 3K normally)....I guess you pay for them to warranty it.......
Also, I had a friend with a 2000 Chevy 3/4 ton that added a 6" lift and 35s w/ prgrammer, exhaust, etc.for about 2 years... His transmission blew about the other day. Apparently Chevy said that the lift caused it and made him pay the 3K to replace it. I told him that his problem was that it was a Chevy in the first place
.... Regardless, they said that he would have to prove to THEM that it wasn't the lift that caused it before they would cover it. I thought it was the other way around......Any input is helpful and appreciated.
