They`re handy for you though so I wouldn`t even bother with bulk fuel though it is nice to have some here when I`m in a hurry and need fuel.
Yeah thats true enough, Im about 15-20 minutes from the flying J (depending on traffic)

It is probably closer to you though, but getting through the city is what takes time I assume.
I wonder though, does that shell on miller sell bulk fuel? I know they have a cardlock there.

My brother had a Sunbeam in the mid 50`s, back then it was an awesome machine to me as a young kid in silver with blk seat and blk leather saddle bags, lots of chrome.
The Shell bulk on Millar is run by the Flying J people as far as I know and it seems they had the same diesel fuel price, at least it was when I checked it out last year.

Yeah the shell place on miller does have the same price, do you know if they are actually a bulk dealer or not though?

Might have to look into that!

That sucks, i actually like their fuel and products.

The husky fuel seems to work decent for me too, but if shell sold bulk I would buy that!

Too late.
I used to buy Shell in bulk but towards the end they were always a few cents a litre more and they went to a courier type deliveries laying off our route driver who went to Esso. I went along with him........

The Sunbeam was an interesting bike, quite an unusual design. It had a shaft drive, like a BMW motorcycle. The engine was a twin, but it was a vertical twin, unlike any other engine, as the two cylinders, rather than being side by side like a Triumph or BSA, were like an inline six, but with 4 cylinders cut off. One cylinder behind the other..don't think there was ever another bike like that.

I never rode one, but I understand they were very comfortable and....quite pricey when new. A deluxe bike.

Thanks for the info Les, this was interesting as I remember very little about the Sunbeam. I was quite young then........
I get my diesel from the Flying /Shell when I`m going by and some delivered here to the farm by Esso. Since they fairly close by I get good service, they can drop off fuel as they`re going by.

Preppy, Sunbeams were English bikes. Back in the '20's and 30's they had quite a rep as high quality motorcycles that were of a sporting nature. The last bike they brought out was like the one Morris' brother had. It was a very innovative touring bike, in the same class as the BMW touring twin. Not too many were made and I think production ended sometime in the '50's.

Morris,

Your brother had good taste in motorcycles, the Sunbeam was very good quality.
I've seen them, a couple, but only in M/C museums.

Les

My '67 Matchless Scrambler G15CS is the same bike as a '67 Norton Scrambler N15CS. Both these bikes were made by AMC (Associated Motorcycle Company) .

These bikes were designed to race in the Mojave Desert in California and in other desert races in the southwestern USA.

They both used a lightweight Matchless frame, competition gas tank, rear suspension and from Norton they used the Norton 750 cc Atlas twin HEMI (designed well before the Chrysler Hemi which came out in the early '50's) engine with twin Amal carbs, sports cams, Norton elongated Roadholder front forks, brakes. When first introduced, ('65) I believe they came with just straight pipes, but later standard Norton Atlas mufflers were added.

The Scramblers or Desert sleds as they were known, were never common. They were also used in flat track racing and drag racing (one was a 1965 AHRA Top Stock motorcycle national class winner).

I was fortunate to get one...it's a great bike.

Well.....it's got 26,000 + miles on it and isn't what you would say is in pristine condition. Over 40 years take it's toll. The paint job isn't original, it's a rattle can special.

But although it's not too purty anymore, I still love it. Here's some pix (not mine) of what these bikes look like, when properly restored. My picture posting ability is nil.
