new guy on the block i have a 92 f150 351 with a e40d.1)i can't get the 4x4 to engage. 2) i'm getting 5mpg right now i have replaced air filter, plugs, wires, and fuel filter why is my mileage so horrible
I've had a few buddies that have 351W trucks in those years in 1/2 and 3/4 ton with automatics and the best they ever got was 5 or 6 too. Neither of them were hard drivers
Im getting 11.5 w/ 460, somethings not right. pull the codes. could be bad o2 or bad cat. vaccum line may be off 4wd acctuator, have alot to do w/ both problems.
the truck was sitting for 2 years i got it and put injector cleaner in it it idles a little rough. the 4x4 i can hit the button either high or low and nothing happens at all. i've pulled codes and a code 62 comes up which is a clutch converter error and the book said for years 89-90 or 91 but mine is a 92 so i didn't think that pertains to my truck

Should get in the neighborhood of 12-15 with it depending on loaded or not and how fast its driven.
Sounds like there may have been a reason its been parked for 2 years. hope the gas isnt 2yrs. old. clear the code and start over. Sounds like major tune up time. start there and see what develops.............remember, go slow and have patience.

it was parked for 2years because the po started driving a 1 ton for the trucking company my grandpa works for so he didn't have a need for it anymore i bought it from him for $200 with brand new tires and wheels on it and a tool box full of tools.
i drained the tanks and cleaned them before filling them up so the gas is fresh. i'm only running the rear tank caust eh front needs a sender and pump
Have you done a compresion test yet? check the timing/ plug cond./vac. lines/ EGR. Also check the grounds. open the air cleaner/ tubes, once had mice build a nest in air tubes. avehicle thats been sitting that long can have some pretty strange problems.

what the hell are omni spark wires? autozone crap?
copper, omni spark are oreilly house brand used them before with no problems. how do i check my fuel pressure. how can the injectors be gummed up after running bg 44k
