driving back from town a few minutes ago, rollin' the coal, heard a bit of a pop and the smoke went from jet black to white as a cloud. all I have here is a flat headed screwdriver so all I could look at is the intake side and it LOOKS ok.. does not wobble a whole lot and the fins all look ok. but that white smoke was ROLLIN' and it was def. not diesel.. smelled like burt oil really..
thinkin' it blew on the exhaust side.
couple people told me it might be a head gasket but I have no oil in the antifreeze and vice versa.. so it again looks like it's the turbo. anybody even ran the D66 from beans?
I have heard a lot of great reports from guys running the D66. BUT, it is only rated to be used with MAX Stage-2 injectors, and it is still a stock turbo as far as construction goes.
Most guys that have fab skills will just pick up a new H2E for $600 - $700 and make their own mount. Then you have a great, strong turbo for less than a D66 that will hold up to anything.
But there a lot of guys than can't fab up something like this and the drop-in D66 is for them.
