just did a ton of work on it seemed 110% fine stopped and the owner stopped and fueled at at a local fuel station known for crap fuel!!! it has since started missing bad and the computer is showing cylinder 5 hi to low open error. work that was done was glow plugs changed all, oil change, fuel filter, batteries replaced. Is it possible the fuel is crap, thinking maybe #5 injector wire is off or injector is bad? any ideas? not sure what the hi to low open error is telling me? thanks.
also which one is #5?
I'm thinking after reading some previous post maybe a loose injector plug being everything was just apart for glow plugs maybe its worked itself loose while driving?
what computer are you using to scan. If capable do an injector buzz test. Also use a multimeter and ohm out the valve cover harness to check it electrically. Just do a search on this forum, the instructions will pop-up. What's the specific error code number?
Is it a high side or low side error? Which code did you pull? You could try a buzz test, or simply ohming the injectors to see if there's a problem. you might also check the wiring between the valve cover and IDM where it crosses the drivers side valve cover for any chaffing issues.
If you've got a code pulled Click Me Look at section 4a and scroll all the way down to diagnostic trouble code description. That will give you a link to the diagnostic tree so you can start checking things out.
the test were preformed with a snap-on solus scanner and here are the codes I am getting:
p605 internal controle module
p1670 EF feedback signal not detected
injector buzz test:
p1275 cyl 5 high to low sde open
At this point knowing it was just apart I'm assuming the obvious is to tear back into it and check the number 5 injector, wires and connections sound reasonable? I'm thinking maybe something is loose I see quite a few post on a kit to secure these injector connections. any of these codes screaming anything different? thanks again the advice is appreciated

I somehow managed to knock the connector off the #5 injector while putting the valve cover back on after re-torquing the injectors and rocker arms on my wife's truck. Don't ask me how, but I'm good at things like that.
It threw the CEL and set a P1316 code. If you clear everything, does the 1670 come back? If so, I'd start checking those wires between the IDM and valve cover.
thanks for the ideas this is a project my 16 year old took on for his boss he is in a vocational school mechanics class so the help is greatly appreciated and it will be some more great experience for him to track this down. I wasn't real excited when they ask him to do this a little nervous actually but know I'm confident he will find it and impressed with what he has learned. so many thanks for helping out a youngster with a ford truck passion.
