I'm getting 16 to 17 mpg with my 2007 Supercab 4x4 5.4. It really makes a difference if you keep the tach around 2000 to 2200 during acceleration. Also get out of the gas earlier. When you see the light turn red ahead why keep the same speed going. You're going to have to stop anyway.
I keep it at 2grand while excelerating... I am very cautious about it, and I drive 35mins to work every day. My drive is sweet because its all 40 to 50mph and one light... SO I don't know why it is so poor!
hmm, with that drive your mpg should be a little better. is your drive hilly?
I had a Airaid intake and Magnaflow catback and saw little impact on mpg's. I do mostly city driving (12 to 13mpg). But even on the highway, I still got the same mpg's as stock (17 to 18 mpg). I've been back to all stock parts for the last year or so.
I don't either. Is your 35 minuite drive mostley at a steady speed? The thing about spending hundreds of dollars on after market stuff is how many miles or even years will it take you to make up for the cost with fewer gallons of gas? You have figure that out for your own situation.
It is steady, and only one light... Its about equal, a hill one way is down hill the other way... I do a lot of driving normally, I live in NH and work in MA. I use RT13, and there isn't even a rush hour!! I really need more MPG, because from what I read before buying I was guessing 17 to 19.... I was ok with that, I would rather drop cash in and get better mpg. My last truck, or truck like car was a Frontier, and I had it 7months and put on 18K...
So do you think I will get a boost from this stuff?
I have to agree with VFX4, save your money for more gas, while a lot of the aftermarket products may in fact help with a slight MPG increase it is usually used up by the FUN factor. It is a 6000 pound brick with the aerodynamics of a barn door, drive conservatively, the manufactures spend a lot of money to get the best performance possible.
I have the roush exhaust, troyer tunes, and a airaid jr and I get around 14 during summer blend gas and naturally it drops with the winter blend. I haven't been able to increase it all that much. Before all the mods I got around 13 mpg's
I have a 06 CREW and get the same lousy 14 mpg around the country rds. With the 3.73's and 300 hp I was hoping for more but I'm with the other guys, drive it easy the K&N kit didn't help any.
I a have an '05 Scab 5.4 4x4 and am getting 16 - 16.5 mpg in mixed driving and 18 - 18.5 on true highway. Haven't taken any extended highway trips without a load to see if I can do better. I have stock General 255/70/17 tires but am running a Gryphon with a custom 87 performance tune which I think makes the difference in mileage. No other mods except an AEM panel filter.
my signature has my mods and i get 20 mpg on the highway 16 in the city and my foot's pretty heavy... canadian mpg which is 17 highway and 13.5 city american mpg. and that's with 33.2" 10 ply(E rated) tires

man speaks the truth.
good summer gas got me 13-14 mpg city
winter gas got me 12-13 mpg city
the mods are usefull in the fun factor...but not really MPG. The only thing I can suggest is get a blower like I did. Hard jack rabbit launches and alot of fun with the throttle has been netting me a consistent 12 mpg city...wonder what it would be if I took it easy?
Had a blower on the last generation Taco, got better milage than stock, except had to use premium. Freeway driving would produce 2-3 MPG better than stock, but the urge to nail the pedal and leave the mustang or rice rocket in the dust always won out. Net fuel saving 0, fun factor 10
