Engine Serial Number Trace
I purchased a used V10 engine that was supposed to have 90,000kms and an EGR. The shop putting it in said it did not have an EGR. Now I'm concerned I did not get the engine I was supposed to.
If the sticker is on the valve cover, it should have the date of manufacture on it.
One thing. If the original motor was a '99, it's "non-PI" and usually has an EGR.
There are V10s from 2000-2004 that DO have an EGR, but have PI heads. Look at the side of the head near the rear of the engine, and it should have a "PI" cast into the heads if it's a 2000-2004 2-valve engine.
The ONLY difference between EGR and non-EGR is the intake (and possibly, only the throttle body where the EGR connects to it) and the driver's side exhaust manifold.
So, it should be quite easy to get an EGR motor to work with non-EGR. Just keep the original PCM.
The Vehicle Information Sheet also has other info such as build info, sale info, and installed options.
