DMF Question
I recently replaced the clutch,pp,tob,pb,etc. on a 94 f450 psd.
I also replaced the DMF ( $1000.00).
The farmer who owns the truck,called P.O.'d because it left him on the road w/ a load of cattle.( about 10 miles total on the job)
I towed the truck in,wouldn't move,removed the trans. and the DMF was broke !!
When I say broke - the outer part would turn by hand.
Any ideas? I'm gonna have to eat the labor on this
Auto parts said : Have to use a solid cluch w/ the DMF.
The original clutch disc was solid,the replacement they sold me had springs.
Any thoughts or experiences ? Just a bad DMF ?
I don't want to do this again.

Now here's the kicker - auto parts will refund my $,they claim that flywheel is no longer available,not being made any more
.What a crock.I had to order from another store,an additional $35.00.
They sent the wrong one
currently awaiting the correct one.The owner needs his truck ASAP (as does everyone).

I seriously would stray away from the DMF. Get the SMF. Better and cheaper. You may be able to recoup some costs using that.
Not sure on the springs in the clutch or not. I do know that a clutch disk for a DMF should not be used with a SMF and vice versa.
