Ok it has been a long time since I have been on the site, new jobs, longer commutes and kids. I have missed reading and learning from you guys and when I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone else about my truck, I know I can turn to this forum. I have a '97 crew cab 4x4 with little mods done to it. My problem is when I'm driving about 45mph and I get on it, the truck doesn't down shift and go. It just struggles a bit until the speed and rmp's match up and then it goes. When I'm stopped and I get on it it will move like there isn't a problem. I have noticed that my milage is not as good as it use to be. I have replaced the throttle positioning sensor on the side of the pedal and I had the transmission checked out. Could my problem be in the pedal? I'm lost right now and not sure what to look for anymore, any help would be appreciated. Thanks
My truck was doing the same it would not kick down out of overdrive but a couple of weeks ago I changed my cam position sensor and it hasn,t done it since? It almost feels like a new truck.
I replaced the CPS about two years ago with an international (blue one) and I'm due for an oil, fuel filter change this weekend. I will make sure that I clean the screen. I have not done the FPR mod to my truck, would it help?
It bumps fuel pressure up a bit,it only takes a few minutes to do the mod.......There is a recall for the CPS from Ford...I went in and told them I had replaced it a few weeks prior and they just handed me one after taking the VIN.....swap in the new one....keep the old for a spare or throw it out if your problem go away......they are cheap now to keep a spare, about 25.00.
