I have Identified that I need new needle bearings for the hub assembly. I have a guy who can replace them and essentially make the assembly new. He has 2 super duty's and his dad has one. All 2000-2002, they own a truck rigging shop and are VERY good.
I set up a time to take my truck in, he went to get the bearings(15/ea) and Ford said they stopped selling them and that you had to buy the entire hub assembly.
Were not done yet trying to figure this out, but I darn sure don't want to pay $480 per side.

Have you tried other dealers or FTE-Parts-Guy? Or try taking down your old one to a bearing shop and match it up to a Timken or something better than oem, just an idea...

The needle bearings for the superduty's are the same as the bearings in a '75 ford dana 44 axle. When I was replacing mine, my father had a new bearing he had never installed in his truck and the numbers matched. I know other years would be the same. I just thought it was interesting how the same bearing fit a '75 model.
In the link Rick posted it tells all about it. The needle bearings are replaceable/serviceable but the bearings in the hub assembly itself are not. However you can grease them through the ABS sensor wire hole.
I trust the guy doing it. He has the same truck, had the same problem and fixed it. I am also having him install the warn hubs at the same time. I traded the turbo for them.
I will tell him about the bearings being the same from 1975 dana 44.
