I have a 99 250 4wd sc lb psd 6spd. The factory spring code is WA. The rear springs have been replaced by the previous owner, the stack is atleast 8 leaves with a 4" block-plus there is a trailer ball in the bed, I assume it was used on a farm and towed some sort of livestock trailer with the amout of sandy dirt in the cab. The main leaf is broke on the right front, it broke at the centering bolt and pulled out of the u-bolt, the only thing keeping it together is the rear hanger bound against the frame rail.
I recently put the poly bushing kit on everything except body mounts-what an improvement in ride quality over the rubber bushings. Truck rides so much smoother, it does'nt "crash" into bumps, holes, and bridge joints anymore like it used to (the new ball joints, u joints, and the dynatrac free spin might have something to do with that also).
For the lenght of this truck and the weight of the diesel I feel it should have come of the line with the 6k springs.
I have contacted the dealer about the x springs (gave him a made up code; XB. As some of you know, if I try to explain what I want they can't look it up. Not that they won't, it is just the way Ford has their system set up) but, there are two x code springs available; X1, X2. What is the difference between these two springs? I'm guessing one is for a gas powered truck and one for a diesel, but which?
Good question, I wish I knew.
I am wanting to know what my front axle is as well.
My axle code is a C1.
A C1 is a 3.73 Limited Slip.
Also, how can I find out if my 2003 SD F250 7.3 PS SRW 4x4 Super Cab has a "Snow Plow Package" or 86M code?
What is an 86M Code?
I have just installed a Meyers 7 1/2' plow and Meyers says it must be an X code 6,000 lb axle.
Any help???
Thanks
Never heard of two different X code springs. You might be better off asking someone here for a VIN number that already has the X springs from the factory and giving them that VIN to find the right springs.
Something doesn't sound right...
Porterhouse, if you can find the BOM number on the sticker on the front axle (if it's still there) you can look it up in the Tech folder at the top of this forum. What does your door sticker say for a spring code? Also, for "axle code" that's only for the rear.
The only X-Code (6,000 lb) springs that I know of currently available from Ford are part number 2C3Z-5310-AF. These will fit '99 - '04 diesel or gas...
my 08 is running X-code springs, they are only 6, 000 lbs. I have the snow plow package.
What are the spring codes on your VC label found on the door? '08 X (actually XX) code coils are only rated at 4,000 lbs. and im quite sure you do not have those with a diesel and the snow plow package. I am guessing you have TT or CC code springs upfront...
The X-Codes being discussed here are leaf springs...

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I'm going to order whatever X springs they list tonight. What seems odd to me is the dealer is about $70 less then both spring shops that I talked to in my area. I'm going to ask about the two dif springs he was talking about on the phone. When I spoke to parts guy the first time and asked for the X springs he asked me "which ones there are two listed X1 and X2". From all the info I've gathered on here what he was saying made absolutely no sense.
Could be leaf and coil difference, X1-X2?
