1991 E150 4.9L fuel return
Hello. First time poster, long time lurker.
Have a 1991 E150 Cargo with a 4.9L.
The fuel return "canister" on the drivers side frame rail behind the fuel filter is cracked and leaking.
You cant just buy these things unfortunately. There are two hoses in, and two hoses out. Can i Bypass the canister and just hook up line to line? It is all just fuel returning to the single tank anyway, correct?
Thanks for your help.

Unlikely, you would be better off finding out what it is and try and get a used one from a junk yard. The nice thing about these vans is that there are lots of them around and so finding parts is not usually too difficult. You could even get the factory service manual for your model year off e-bay, thats where i got mine from. If you dont want to do that, go to your local junk yard find the same model year around yours and take one off it. Chances of finding one new are slim. Hope that helps.

Had a 91 e250 w/dual tanks, similar set up. I think this system uses 2-pumps, 1 pump in tank that is low pressure and 1 high pressure pump located on frame rail. I think the canister your referring to is a fuel reserve reservoir and is there so full throttle won't suck all fuel available from lines and stall engine.
