In conjunction with Neal (nlemerise), I am developing a new Roadside Help Network database for the non-public member listing. This database will require each member to login with a unique username and password to access the data. This will also give each member the ability to edit their own profile, make themselves Un-Available (invisible to all but administrators) if you leave on vacation or any other reason that you need to be temporarily removed from the database.
This database will give you many ways to search for information contained in the database, by member name, by state, by city, by a single letter in anything, etc, etc. (you get the picture) and print only those results.
Anyway, I have most of the bugs worked out (I think) and am ready for some volunteer beta testers. Some will be regular users, other will be testing as Admins to flush out the rest of the bugs.
This will not be an easy assignment because I need people with the time to sit on the computer and bang on it to try to come up with combinations of things that a user may do and get it to not work. The beta tester has to be able to take screen shots of problems that are REPEATABLE, insert it into e-mail and send that information to me. This is not a 1,2,3 -- login, take a look-see and were done process.
Criteria for beta testers are that you are a currently signed up member of the Roadside Help Network --- AND YOU HAVE THE TIME TO DO THIS!
Here are a few screenshots of what the database looks like - most likely there will be a few small changes to the appearance before we are done.
The database will not be ready for testing until next week (Dec 1 or 2) but I would like to get a number of testers set up before then. Hopefully, I will have some 'how to' instructions put together by then.
Anyone wishing to help in this project, please send me a PM and I'll try and get you on the beta test team. Make sure you include your private e-mail address in the pm. You may want to format it as "john AT doe DOT com" to keep the spam bots from finding it on the server.
Thanks for your help with this project in advance.
If it's computer oriented, I bet I can screw something up. Fixin to leave town and won't be back until Wed. night, but I'll have time to play with it over the long weekend if that's not too late.

Can you give a bit more detail ,,it may be easier to know then if I can do it ...
Lately I have had extra time ,,may not when people start crashing ,,,
Guzzle, I think a bunch of us are already on it. Justin and Neal had a bunch of us give info a few weeks ago.
Jason, This will be a new part of the New RHN. It will be the member listing that will give members the ability to input and modify their own data, with security features.
For those that have missed the thread about Neal's (nlemerise) new pages he has built for the RHN, you must register to be able to download a current listing of the members. All I am doing is to writing a new database but it needs testing before we can implement it. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...w-running.html
Looks good fellas. I would like to say that we appreciate you folks' time that you are putting into this. I wish I could help but I'm gonna be pretty tied up the next few weeks.

Guzzle, as soon as I get back to Charlotte after Turkey day you can count me in. I seem to have a little spare time for some reason.

Pm me if you like..
Not much more detail than what you can find in the screenshots link. We are just looking for people that can logon and try and mess it up... to a point. Members that we assign Administrative rights to have to be a little more careful because they can mess it up REAL GOOD!
Just communicate with me the best way you can if something does not look right or you see an outright mistake!
This goes for miller_feed also.... Once we have it up and running, all the members will have access so I need feedback on things that don't make sense from all beta testers, that's the reason for testing before it goes live!

Send me a PM with your e-mail and I'll get you set up. The test site won't be ready for any testing until after Thanksgiving anyway.
Im not sure what you mean when you say " sit on the computer and bang on it to try to come up with combinations of things that a user may do and get it to not work. Here's my situation, fairley computer literate, fairley decsent mechanic, available because I've retired from the military. My question is how can I help. You can post or PM me and I think I can participate if Im following correctly.
