I have a 1986 F150 with a 302 EFi in it and I know the throttle body spacers dont help a ton with performance but I have a question about them. Im looking on the internet and about all I can find is for 1987-later. Will these work on my truck beings it is an 86? Did they make any changes to the throttle bodys in 1987?
Thanks,
Blake
A cam upgrade is the single best thing you can do, it's a lot of work but there's nothing that will come close to matching the performance increase for the $200 or so it'll cost you. The next best thing is exhaust upgrades, if you have everything behind the manifolds changed get some shorty headers.
Hell, save up some more money and get you a 5.0L longblock out of a mustang GT and drop it in and put all the upgrades that you put on the old engine and put it on the new one. You'd be suprised at the power difference, just make sure that you get the computer to go with the engine. You shouldn't have the change the wiring harness just the computer.
This thread is a perfect example of how these Internet forums can be so entertaining... the
thread begins with some guy asking specific questions about $20 mods to his engine,
progresses through increasingly-expensive alternatives, and ends with "replace your entire
motor." Funny.
