part number needed
Lets see, F6 (not a school; bus or COE) is a "TH" so.......
I have the picture right in front of me from page 140 of the 48-52 Truck Chassis Parts Catalogue because I'm still looking for the stupid 48-52 Cowl Vent drawing...gripe gripe.... Here are the numbers on the page - again...gripe gripe:
Kit, (Universal Joint) for T, Th,....(with 4 speed spur gear transmission), "Consists of the following - 4 beaings, 1 spider & 4 snap rings, 01T 7039.
Your carrier bearing which I have always (probably incorrectly - huh, Bill) called a "thrust bearing" comes in four pieces. From front to rear they are:
"Felt, Sleeve & Collar ***'y (Coupling Shaft Support)-Front" 01T 4832.
"Sleeve (Coupling Shaft Support)-Center" 01T 4826-A.
"Bearing (Coupling Shaft Support)-Center" 01T 4812.
and,
"Felt, Sleeve & Collar ***'y (Coupling Shaft Support)-Rear" 01T 4833.
If you need me to scan in the drawing, let me know. Number Dummy will probably be here soon to check my work! Judge Judy's on so I thought I'd let him take a break for 30 minutes

Best,
Julie

Here ya go! It's in my #2 gallery if you want to look at it here (anyone). I'll e-mail you a copy too so you can view it and print it in it's original size!

Julie!
First I gave them the year make model and parts I wanted he stated"1/2 ton" I said no 2 ton he said "1 ton?" I was like no f6 its a 2 ton... he then said well that's not a pickup at all I was like no its a stake body/dumptruck ...he. just paused
I was like maybe u can cross referance the original part numbers? He said "sure let's try"
I give him one of the numbers and he was likke that's it ...that's the whole number and reads it back... I was like yes sir. And again he just paused ...then he says it must be dealer only and says sorry I couldn't help ...hangs up
So while in a perfect world ur info was great (julie)
Can anyone help me with a napa or brand number ... I really don't wanna pay to have it rebuilt
Thx again and thx in advance

Julie, Ford changed all the U-Joint basic part numbers from 7039 to 4635 in 1957, which rendered all those old numbers very hard to track down.
This F6 uses three U-Joints, one is different than the other two. Two are listed under the driveshaft (4602), one is listed under the coupling shaft (4817).
Ford also changed the carrier bearing basic part number.
While the 1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog has the new numbers listed, some of these part numbers have been updated, as you can see.
Because of Ford's penchant for updating part numbers, I have to verify every *^&%^^ part number to see if it has been updated, before it's posted.
This includes every part number thru today!
That figures!

I figured you'd "cover my six" on this Bill.....But thought I might try to give him something to start with...at least the drawing is good (even though the numbers aren't)

I wouldn't think that the U-joints would be hard to find, but like Havi suggested, maybe a shop that specializes in drive trains could help. They usually have the older parts lists on the back shelves.
I used to really like NAPA, but in the past couple years they have really gone down the tubes. Your are lucky your guy at least spoke english...

The bearing went from 01T4812 to 8A7025 to C3AZ7025B.
The two u-joints you posted, went from 01T7039 to B5TZ4635A.
The sleeve you posted: 01T4812A went to 01T4812B.
The 1948/56 truck parts catalog lists all the u-joint specs, but it took almost an hour to research, locate and type all that jazz, so I didn't have the time to post them.
The carrier bearing may have a number on it, but if it's the original, the Ford part number was changed 51 years ago, so what are the chances of finding it under the bearing industry number?
The bearing I posted has an industry number: 207L, which I also listed.
The problem with old parts catalogs is, they contain old part numbers. These numbers must be cross referenced to find out if they have been updated or not.
the budget is zero i can trade my overtime hours for parts ... no money exchanged no money spent in my mind
and i love saying i did it myself
i figure as long as i mark thing and line the new up it shouldnt vibrate hope to not be wrong if it does ill have them balance it
