off road and mud tire balancing trick
i just bought four new mud tire for my truck and almost shook off the road. I heard this trick on an off road forum. they have ceramic breads you can add to a tire and the tire will balance itself out while driving. well that costs a lot to do for all four tires. I heard that you can add BB's yes pellet gun bb's but they have to be the air soft bb's steel or copper will eventruly destroy the rim especially a nice alcoa like mine! well a little scared i tried it like the forum said 2000 airsoft bb's per tire yes you got to break the bead to get them in there. i had to take the tire off then lower the truck down on the tire to break the bead. didn t have a friends truck to drive up on my tire at that time. well i do got too say this! it works!!!!! works better than expected! try a search under equal tire balancer it will explain hope the forces of a rolling tire and how the beads work to balance the tire. yes this trick works wonders. i have been doing this for a number of years and several sets of tires with great success. i am running copper BB's (10oz per tire) with alum wheels and they have shown very minimal wear. the airsoft BB's are better for soft wheels like aluminum but it takes a lot more and its harder to balance.
i have used golf ***** in my big tires (42" TSL SX's) and they work well, they just wear fast if you drive slow a lot
glad to hear someone else has tried this and not just badmouthing this method without ever trying it

I'm using the equal tire powder in my 1/2 ton's 265s right now. Only had them in there for a month, but they run nice and true, i've got no complaints. I used 4 oz per tire, in their quick install packets, just threw one in each tire before inflating them. It took about 20 miles of highway driving for the bag to break open, and the ride before that was rough on acceleration, but is fine now. I heard some say not to use it as they would freeze up in cold weather, well we've had 0 degrees F in the last weeks, and no issues there.
I suppose bb's would be cheaper, but the equal powder was only about $10 per tire.
I also have centramatic wheel balancers on my 96 F250's with 255-85-16 BFG Mud terrains. They work great as well, but more expensive though.

I've had centramatics for the past 4 years on the F250 with 35x12.50-16.5's and about 6 months ago I put a set on the dually with 255x85-16. I wouldn't be without them anymore. I used to have tires balanced 2 or 3 times a year, now I just mount them and dont worry about it.

My off-road, rock crawling buddies swear by this stuff. I've not used it yet but will be
very soon. I have a set of new tires on my 97 gasser that just won't balance.
It can be added without breaking
the bead.
Here's a link for the tire size/amount.
