Well I guess the Innovative xtreme tune with a few custom options has proven too much for the stock tty head bolts. Ive sudenly got a very rough idle on start-up and alot of white smoke upon start up. runs great once it builds some heat though. Im gonna try to put off doing it until it warms up this spring as there is no way in hell my truck will fit in my garage. Ill do a step by step DIY how to on doing studs and gaskets as soon as I tackle the project. I would prefer to pull the cab but Im still trying to figure out how in my driveway LOL Worst case scenario Ill do it with the cab on the frame...

Wow...in your driveway would be tough to get the cab off. Good luck with it and all winter gives you a good chance to save up for some injectors and such! Were you atleast having fun with the new tune? lol

I read where the stock gaskets are good to 600hp and there are a few high powered trucks around on here running them. I think Lubeowner is running stock gaskets in his twin turbo pulling truck. I also believe that they are the best for sealing up MINOR imperfections in it. Don't forget to get your heads checked when you do this also.

It doesn't matter who writes the tunes or how hot it is, it can only take a beating for so long before it happens, stock trucks can even do it.

06silvercrew, what times were you getting out of that truck at the track with those big tires on it?

Street. I didnt specify what head bolts. I was kind of hoping it would hold out a little longer but I knew from the get go that I would end up having to do them as hard as I run my truck.

If your not going to be putting done serious hp/tq in the truck then stock gaskets are fine. Everything in my siggy and I'm running stock gaskets with zero problems related to head issues.

Now you could still do hypermax racing gaskets, fire ring and all that, but that just makes the job even more of a pain in the ***, because you can be a little bit flexible with the install on stock gaskets. However, you have zero room for error on the aftermarket ones.

In my opinion, unless your going to go well past 500hp, stick with the stock gaskets and invest in an RR kit and some other goodies to make it more reliable in the long run(you already have the egr taken care of from what I saw so that's crossed off the list).

Thanks guys. Anyone know if I can buy just the head gaskets by themselves without buying the stock rubber head bolts?
