My daddy saw a truck a year older than yours under a shelter that was a ways off the road. He drove by it for about a year before he stopped and ask about it. An older lady came to the door and said it was her husbands who had died about ten years before. Daddy ask her did she want to sale it ,if so, how much. She told daddy he could have it if he would haul it off. Daddy went out to see if it would start, it did but all the tires were flat and dry rotted. He put new tires on and test drove it, tried to pay her but she would'nt have it. She sign over the title to him and he put eight hundred on her table and walked out. She was right behind him trying to give it back, she was still yelling when we were almost out of her site. You don't find many like that!!
Actually I appreciated his comments, my goal is to get it as correct looking as I can, with the exception of the engine and stereo.I'll keep your offer to take the Shelby in mind...I seem to get a lot of offers for that..hehehe.
it's too bad that NumberDummy listed all the little things that are messed up on your truck.
What's your problemo? Did you read the entire thread?
I joklingly made a comment about the brake pedal pad being upside down, and said I had an eye for spotting what's correct.
Then the OP asked if I had noticed anything else.
So I typed what I noticed, telling him what mirrors were on the truck (would you have known those were off an Econoline? Prolly not.)
Mentioned the air cleaner, and made the comment about the 'coffee can' installed in front of the ignition module.
When the OP made mention that the Cruise Control servo was missing, I gave him the part number, told him ALL other cars/trucks used the same one so he would know when looking for a replacement.
Also told him what else he needed to install the servo, giving him another number and what it fit.
I'll remember that snide remark when you need something, because I'm one of the very few members of FTE with parts catalogs.
And the only one who takes the time to search for obsolete parts.
Ask Alconk how he found that NOS shortbed styleside quarter panel he bought.
Where the member that had been searching for 3 years for bumper brackets for his Flareside finally got them. I found them for him NOS in less than 2 minutes.
Indeed it is..hehehe..see anything else out of place?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the instrument cluster (area around the gauges) for '79 should be silver (argent) whereas this truck has the '78, black version.
Also...under the hood where the emission sticker and vacuum diagrams are, the calibration has been penned out and also it looks like a canister has been crossed out. I will take a picture of it...I wonder if it had to do with the aux. tank being installed. Anybody have any thoughts?
NICE shorty!! I wish my 77 had cruise, and tilt!! But alas it is much easier to work on without all that extra fru-fru stuff!!
And I have one more no one pointed out,,,,,,
How can your GO-FAST sticker (heddman) work if it is under the hood?!!
Nice truck!
And SEMPER FI Tin-man!!
Thanks Pickupmanx2...the PO put that sticker, the K&N sticker and the edelbrock sticker under there...but at least they left all the original stickers intact. I'll let you know mustange70...will be in the spring.
