Just thought I'd post this. I was walking thru one of my local dealerships, one who posts their price on all vehicles. On a few of the 09's I saw rebates and dealer discounts ranging from 4500 to 6500. That included Fords 2000 off.
Their inventory was decent for 09's with a couple King Ranch's, Lariats, XLTs and XLs. Including a couple XLTs with the HD payload package. I did notice none of these trucks had sunroofs. Seems odd on the KR and Lariats.
No way Arts. $4K off a loaded F-150 is no where near invoice. On a $40K truck you're looking at a $36K invoice minus another $1K holdback minus another $2K rebate. Net cost is around $33K. If he/she sells it for say $36K, (which he'll show you is invoice) he still nets a good piece of change far off invoice.
Of course they make money on these! I don't belive ArtsBest was trying to imply that they're selling them at cost!
He was referring to "invoice", which you admitted was about $4k under sticker.
A business doesn't stay in business by losing money. Selling at cost, without any revenue to pay for business expenses, such as payroll, facilities, insurance, etc. They have every right to make some decent money selling a vehicle...
My point was the markup was larger than he referred to. That's all. As for F-150 sales next year? I don't expect too much unless Ford kicks up that $2K rebate.
