Clearances

A number of members have installed the 302/5.0L in their effies; I kno in my case I have about an inch from the rear most EGR bolt on tube. I wanted as much fan clearance as possible. Can get you more accurate measurements later today. Pics in gallery under motor install.

If you are going to set the wheels in the center of the wheel openings you need to move your engine cross member up front 1&1/2". If not then it will go in the orginal location. Of course your trans will tell you where to put the trans cross member.
If you are running a solid down shift lever instead of a cable you will find that it hits the firewall. You will have to order a cable kit to make it work. DON'T run the trans without hooking up the cable and adjusting it first. You will burn up the trans.

Offset

I offset my motor/tranny 1 1/2" towards passenger side for steering, and exhaust manifold clearances.

I have no offset and it is just fine.
Just make sure when you install the rear end you allow the output shaft of the rear end to be up more than the output coming out of the trans by 1&1/2 to 3 degrees
