Yes it wouldn't hurt to even look at that area at least to see if their is any cracks . How many click do you have on that 89 I have close to 325,000 km on this one.

If you look at it morris and it not cracked I think I would just leave alone When I weld the cracks up it was close to having a fire under the dash. Their was under coating down their and was a little flammible. Hey morris have you hear from sherm at all, Must be busy. Roy
Hey Morris this diesel I bought is getting about 23-24 miles to the gallon in -24 to 25 -c. I think that it not to bad of milage for cold weather and ugly conditions out here on the praires.
