Thumbs up First really good haul

Just got back from a round trip to Boston, MA with a load of Marble for a stone cutter. 7,000 lbs in the trailer and 1,000 lbs of small stones in the back of the truck.

900 mile round trip averaged 13.5 empty on the way up with just the trailer and 11.2 on the way back. Total weight was about 10K. Ran like a champ!

THought I would share a couple photos if the link works right:

Sweet! Has your truck got the overloads on it because it doesn't look like it's squatting much?

I'll tag my long haul story with this one:

3500 mile round trip. Empty 22' bed (28' overall) double axle trailer (4200 lbs) on the way down. 40-60 mph winds half the way. Averaged just over 15 MPG going 70-75 MPH.

The return trip had the trailer loaded down with 5,000 lbs of equipment with 800+ pounds in the bed. Averaged 11 MPG going 75-80 MPH. PLENTY of power. Trans temps under 177, oil temps under 198, EGT's never exceeded 1000.

This was all using Spartan 210 tune.

about my load

i pulled a 4500lbs 25' goose neck trailer with 3 rolls of 1800lbs of carpet 13 rolls of carpet padding, equals 1,105lbs. A pallet of hard wood floor weighed 1,500lbs, 300lbs roll of flooring and a 8200lb bobcat tractor to unload all of it with. total weight 21,005lbs. behind a '08 250 4 door diesel, 4x4. and two guys. and at 65mph, you wouldn't even know it was pulling anything breaked good, just a little slow getting going. but i won't do it again

My camper weighs 5800 lbs and I pull a 10,000 enclosed trailer behind it i weighed in at around 23,000 at the scale. Truck does just fine on its own on flat roads. Not impressed in the mountains but its because I still have the DPF on and no chip. I think once those are gone, I will enjoy the truck both on the flat highways and in the mountains.

Stalwart. Must be the gears. Mine has 3.73's in it and in the mountains it pulls but definitely is grunting.

The gears do help indeed! I have only needed full throttle once at that weight, it was on a hilly part of Highway 9 when towing my British tank up to the Arlington airshow and I wanted to make a light.

We have had this talk before I believe, but Hwy 2 just before Stevens Pass and then that next corner is where I have had issues. Full throttle, slowed down to 40 mph. On my 6.0 liter never even slowed down and was not to the floor either. Same 3.73's was in it. I can't wait for the DPF to be gone. It is definitely a power grabber.

The photo on my avatar show me pulling a large motor grader on my flatbed trailer.

120 miles one way.

Grader weight - 29,000 lbs.
Trailer Weight - 10,000 lbs
Truck weight - 10,000 lbs.

total weight - 49,000 lbs! I wouldn't pull this load across country, but the truck is remarkably strong and versatile.

If I could post an attachment I'd include a larger photo in the post.
