I had a 2006 F350 Lariat that I recently sold for a 2005 F250 Lariat. The 06 had a 6 disk changer in it and the 05 that I now have has just the single disk radio.
My question: The 06 with the 6 disk sounded 10 times better than the 05 single disk radio that I have now. Is there more wattage in the 6 disk radio over the single disk radio....are the speakers all the same? If the speakers are all the same for the lariats then I will simply replace the single disk with a 6 disk from ebay......Thanks in advance for the help
i believe the 6 disc changer comes with the upgraded stereo package..so its not the changer but rather the quality of everything else that came with that package. i have the 05 f250 with the single changer, at low volume it sounds great but at higher volume levels it gets so tiney it hurts your ears
The 6disc headunit was typically associated with a premium or audiophile. The speakers and possibly a factory amp are the difference your hearing. If the other truck had factory amps, it would be easier to go aftermarket with a nice set of components up front and a decent amp to push them. Then you can add a sub and half decent rears to complete the system.
You don't need massive power, my plan calls for about 600watts. 100watts per speaker, front 6.5" components, rear co-axial 2 ways and a pair of 12" subs. I am planning on two amps, a 4 channel 400watt for the mid/high and a class D for the subs.
If you want it to sound even better then get a 2005 or 2006 "Shaker 500" stereo out of a mustang, they put out alot better sound and will swap in easy. They are constantly on ebay too.
