my duralast redtop just gave up after 3 years of service and am looking for a good CHEEPISH battery. what do you all recomend? i cant afford a optima or else i would buy one of them. it need to sufficently crank over a 460 and i have a plow and a tailgate salter also
The more you spend, the longer it will last. Wal Mart and Autozone Valuecraft batteries typically last a year or two, less if they sit. I've had good luck with the mid-range Duralast or Duralast Gold batteries from Autozone. You don't have to fork out the cash for an Optima, but a battery around $80-100 should give you a few years. Spend the cash now so that you're not replacing the 12-month warranty batteries every 14 months.
x2 on the DuraLast from AutoZone.
When it does go it'll be easy to return. ;)
That's the reason I got out of the Sears Diehard "racket".
I wanted the replacement stores to be common and have late hours.
The Exides from Checker are crap now. :(
I took my last one back and told 'em...
"it ain't dead, just tired of it spittin acid on my pickup and want it pro-rated"
They didn't argue.
I told them I was disappointed in the last two Exide batteries...
"what happened to them, they used to be the best stuff? :/"
"they got bought out by ______(?) and haven't been good since :/"
ive never ran a motorcraft battery, i just may now if the price is right, you are right on the cca i was looking in the 850 -1000 range. but the duralast has well well exceded my expectations of the battery, i was expecting a 3 times dead and replace but it exceded that. whats the price rang on a motorcraft battery? no dealers sell them around me i spent aprox $80 on my red top 600 cca duralast
