Autolite and Carter 1 barrels are completely different, unless it's a branded version. Do you have a picture of the Autolite?

The should be an ID tag with numbers on it. If you take those numbers into the parts store they will be able to get you the right rebuild kit.

Sorry man, but those pictures are too small for me to tell. Here is an Autolite 110X:

Let me go out in the garage to get a shot of a Carter.

Here is a Carter YFA 1 barrel:

If you look carefully on the front (sometimes hidden by a bracket) on later model Carter YFA 1 barrels, they will say "Made by Carter for Motorcraft." If that's the case it's a Carter. And like pfogle said, just take the numbers off the carburetor and have them cross reference the kit for you. Even if you just say you need a rebuild kit for a Carter carburetor off a 79 Ford, there can be a dozen available kits within a model year.

Yep. I went through that, It was a Carter, and it had a green tag attached with numbers. I took those numbers to NAPA, and they hooked me up it was just under $20.

I have had to sometimes bring in the old gaskets to verify (by looking thru the plastic) that the kit I am buying is the correct one. Now if you only have 1 vehicle, and that is the one you are looking at, then no you cannot do that.
