I'm looking for a set of narrow like 6 -6.5" wide 15 inch wheels for my 4x4 to fit it in the garage for winter repairs and fabricating, and figure my cheapest find for these narrow rims I need would maybe come of a stock 4x2 do any of you know the factory rim width?
Like these? I believe these are 15x6. You have to watch out though, the hub hole in the center may be different from 2wd to 4wd, same bolt pattern though.
the hub centers on a 4x4 are going to be bigger than a 2wd one. You could put 4x4 tires on a 2wd but I am not sure of the other way around at least in the front, I think you'd run into a problem with the hub whole being smaller on a 2wd than on a 4wd truck.
well to better phrase this what I'm looking for is a 15"x6" or 6.5" rim figured they probably put a norrow rim like that on a 2wd truck (ford) if anyone knows for sure if a 2wd rim will fit over a 4x4 front hub it would be much appreciated. It seems from responses allready had 2wd's did come with 15"x6" wheels.
Well aside from the fact that not all 4x2's had 15x6" rims my biggest concern is do 2wd rims fit on the front of 4x4 trucks (ford f150 to f150) since I should be able to find 15x6" wheels off a old 2wd ford to fit the 195/55-15 inch tires that are needed to lower my 4x4 enough to fit under the garage door these tires are merely 22.73inches tall and will mount to a rim even as small as 5.5"s
I dont think 2wd front rims will fit up front on a 4x4 because your 4x4 is going to have a Dana 44 which is going to have a bigger hub then the 2wds hub on the front. So to answer your question I have not see a 2wd rim fit up front on a 4x4 (my rims on my truck were all 4x4, but my 2wd rims did not fit back on the 4x4 truck up front)
4x4's have bigger front hubs than 4x2, they wont fit. If you still think they might just measure the hub spacings
didnt some of the cars? IE Thunderbird and others have a 5.5 spacing for the lug nuts? you could try those?
I'm pretty sure crown vics had the same bolt pattern as the little rangers and bronco II's and I'm pretty sure thunderbirds were 4 lug like the mustangs used to be.
Well I'm just looking for something somewhat easily found in a junk yard for cheap I will only ever use these wheels to drive in and out of the garage and to the DMV like 6 miles down the road if I get pulled over for being to jacked up which hasn't happened yet(knock on wood) and I heard my truck issupposed to be exempt from lift laws in my state because of the classic registration plates.
