Mine does it also...no problems starting at all. Might get a romp or 2 when it dips down into the single digits but I run dino and almost expect it here and there at that temp.

I don't remember ever seeing that pic... since mine has over twice the mileage of yours (172K) it's probably safe to assume it's lived beyond its life expectancy.

Mine just plain stopped passing current. When you get it chnged out break it open, I am curious to see the inside.

Me too. I drilled out the bottom plate and put it in a vice and slowly tightened the screw until it opened up like a walnut.

All I know is mine is pulling a lot of juice... the dash/headlights dim quite a bit while it is on.
