Not sure what that's supposed to mean... I was just trying to be funny.

I agree with the others that Magnaflow is the way to go... less interior noise and just a cleaner, more performance-like sound that's not just about volume.

How's about just replacing the muffler with a straight pipe (maybe bent to fit),,I have heard that with the cat or cats still on,,they sound pretty good this way,,?????,,Gotta be cheaper then buying a $80 dollar muffler,,!!

Oh by the way,,,I did this on my 06' F-350,,six-O,,and a side exit in front of the pass wheel,,,,she sounds sweet to me,,many compliments on the sound,,,,cheap too!

Some areas need a muffler for inspection purposes. But if you don't need one, go with the straight pipe. You can always put a muffler in there later if you don't like it.

Straight pipe on these trucks is fairly loud... I have a cut-out on my truck and can only run it for a couple days at most before it gets annoying.

hey rich straight pipe isnt an option and i am now weighing between the flowmaster and the magna flow..i got prices for the part only from 75 to 85 dollars..went to a local muffler shop and they tried to rip me off like i was stupid..told me they could do the flowmaster 40 for 180 plus labor..thats a 100 dollar mark up for the part... my cousin owns a body shop so he will do the labor for free just trying to decide between the two and looking at price

Why don't you just order the muffler from an online retailer like autoanything. For the sound your after I would recommend a flowmaster 50 SUV or 50HD or a Magnaflow with an 18" case. Either muffler has more capacity than a plain old 14" case muffler and will help get rid of some drone.

Or we have our Wickedflow line, which is more comparable to the Magnaflow, only less expensive and better built. Even our 13" case has very little drone due to the quiet steel and the tighter packing inside.

The SD single cat 5.4 will never sound great...I've tried them all. I was trying to replicate the deep rumble of my wife's 5.4 Expedition (Cherry Bomb glasspack) or my 94 460 (Borla with gutted cat) and it can't be done. The SD 5.4 sounds small and buzzy. I've tried everything.
