My Interstate batteries are about 20mths old and are dying i think already!
my truck has had the batteries boosted and drained boosted and drained at the dealers to get the HPOP filled and the truck started and now after a cold night my batteries are sluggish? could this have permanently damaged them?
after driving the truck for a while and shut off, and start up again they turn the engine to beat hell, but after it sits, its slow again, and if there is one thing i learned about these internationals is they like lots of juice to turn over. so what should i do, will a battery tester show these batteries have something wrong with them and get them replaced under warranty if so what type of test.
Check your alternator output also. I just replaced mine because my batterys were getting low. It was charging enough to keep the battery light off, but it was not enough. Only put out 12.3V at idle, 13.1 at 1800rpm's.
forgot to mention last time truck was in they replaced the alternator with new refurbished one, ill have to get batteries check out at parts store then see what that says?
Checked Batteries seperatly and they both showed only 440 cranking amps thats half of what they should put out, so they replaced them with some new ones under warranty!
When my truck started to turn over more slowly it was a sign the starter was going.Since the batteries were 3 years old I replaced them but it still cranked slowly. Replaced the starter and all is well.
