Heater control valve?

Does a '73 with NO A/C have any type of a heater control valve, and if so where the heck is it, or does the water run through the core all the time? I can see the two heater lines going into the firewall and looks like directly into the heater core, but I've never seen one that did.

Thanks for the info. Just want to know what to look for, I'm assuming the core is stopped but want to make sure there isn't a valve that could be messed up.

Since no one else has chimed in, I'll throw in my 2 cents. I'm about 95% sure that non-AC trucks don't have the heater valve. I hope that helps...somewhat. But I do know for sure that there is no such valve internal to the heater core - so if you can't see it from the engine bay, it's not there. If your heater isn't blowing very warm; how do the heater hoses feel? Are they as hot as the upper radiator hose when warmed up? These things need to be backflushed after a while.

I think you are right fmc400 the coolant flow is constant through the core and the temperature is controlled by opening or closing a damper to regulate air flow through the core
