As usual, it cranks and cranks and when if FINALLY does start, blows the ususal white smoke, rump-rump-rumps and then finally smooths out. Temp is only in 20s.
Replaced the glow plug relay, did the resistance test on the harness and I can actually see the dome light dim...but still acts like no glow plug assist.
This is a federal diesel, so just a simple relay, and running DELO oil. Thanks!
Measure at the batteries, but 9.8 is far too low to make the IDM fire the injectors.
When it cranks and cranks, is there any white smoke out of the exhaust after about 5-7 seconds? If not, your injectors are not being commanded to open or you have High Pressure Oil issues.
Both batteires have been tested and are putting out their rated capacity......850CCAs Is the oil grade too think? Maybe switch to a 5w something??? Do these trucks EVER start properly? This never has and is why I am selling it.....
Based on what you said though, in regards to the voltage while turning over, I would still work in this area for at least a couple more checks. See if you can turn any of the post connectors, if so, try tightening them.
As fars as do they ever start right, most of the time, otherwise we all of us wouldn't be so proud of them.

5w-40 is synthetic oil, it will cure those romps for you on startup. And if everything is working order, your truck will easily startup in the cold! I have no probs starting all the way down to 0* without being plugged in.
Ok, Ill check and re-check the batteries.....whats a good 5W oil??? And I meant do they ever start in the COLD without issues? Mine starts great above 40.....
Rotella T Synthetic 5w-40 is a great oil. Another great oil is Schaeffers 5w-40 Synthetic, just might not be as easy to get without ordering. I've always used Rotella with great results
